"With our 150 years of teaching experience in our present staff
we believe in the following “Keys to Learning!”

SOME FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES ABOUT THE NATURE OF LEARNING

Children learn best when they take an active part in their own learning and are not merely passive recipients of instruction.

Children learn best when they are solving problems that emerge from everyday situations of home and neighbourhood.

Children learn best when they are involved in doing things that make sense to them and exploring newly reached understandings.

Children learn best when they enjoy approval and a good deal of success - both of which contribute to the building up of an adequate self-concept.

Children learn best when they share with and learn from others, developing themselves through relationships that are pleasant and rewarding.

Children learn best when they are in stimulating surroundings that invite them to make discoveries, to be adventurous and creative.

Children learn best when they live in a sympathetic environment where they have the freedom to move, to express feelings, to search for alternatives and act to overcome doubts.

It is “face to face” teaching with experienced and competent staff.

Our classes are organised on age, ability levels, and the same subject.

Eg, Year 10 Advanced Maths students are in one class,
Year 12 Chemistry, Year 2/3 Reading etc are all individual classes set into our weekly timetable. Our Maths classes would attempt 3 to 4 different topics to a mastery level with an assignment given each lesson, structured on those areas.

Upper Primary and Secondary English would concentrate on vocabulary, sentence structure, spelling, comprehension, essay writing skills.

Learning is maximised by providing a CALM, CONFIDENT and CONCENTRATED learning environment.

Again our overall strategy is …

This methodology works, our results in the HSC and School Certificate reflect this. More importantly, each child walks away from our centre, more confident, more skilled to face a new day, a new set of formulas and a new learning experience. One of the most important aspects of what we do at Tuition Time, is give every student the opportunity to …… achieve personal bests.
